The California Academy of Sciences (CAS) in conjunction with San Francisco State University (SFSU) offers a graduate program in Biology through the Department of Biology at SFSU. A Master's degree is attainable in Marine Biology or Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology. Academy curators have adjunct status at SFSU as Research Professors and can act as major advisors for graduate students. Academy research facilities are open for SFSU graduate students with sponsors at the Academy. CAS facilities include the Center for Comparative Genomics, a Scanning Electron Microscopy Lab, extensive research collections, library, and laboratories of the research staff. Both institutions are located in the city of San Francisco, California, approximately four miles apart.
